Here are the answers to a number of frequently asked questions

How much notice do you need to provide a cake ?
If you are planning a wedding between April and September we ask that you contact us 3 months in advance. At other times we would ask for at least four weeks notice, however, we will always make every effort to accommodate requests with even less time to spare.

Should I bring anything to the consultation?
We would encourage you to bring any items that have inspired your wedding theme such as particular colours, magazine pictures/articles, material from your wedding dress which can be used as ideas to theme into your wedding cake. However we are quite happy just to talk to you and work through possibilities.

Do you charge for the consultation ?
No, it’s a no cost, no obligation service. We believe that it is essential to talk directly to you so that we work together to create something really special.

Are you happy to conduct the consultation at another venue?
We prefer to conduct the consultation in our premises but under exceptional circumstances the consultation can be arranged elsewhere. However, we may make a mileage charge depending upon the distance involved.

How much do your wedding cakes cost?
Prices for wedding cakes vary hugely depending upon size and complexity but usually start from £200. You will always be advised of the total price for your cake before placing and confirming your order.

Whats included in the price?
Consultation, the cake, all of the decorations (except fresh flowers), personal delivery to your venue (up to 30 miles distance, mileage charge beyond that), assemblage, and final presentation.

How do we pay for our order?
After the consultation, we ask for a written/email confirmation of your order. We will conduct a final check of all details with you 14-21 days before your big event. This is followed by an email invoice. Payment can then be made by BACS transfer or cash. We do not offer a credit card option.

What are your cakes made from?
Our cakes are made from the finest ingredients we can source. Where possible we also use locally produced ingredients. The chocolates that we use are premium quality couverture and where possible Fair Trade and Organic.  We don't use preservatives, hydrogenated fats, flavourings or colours (unless requested).

What is couverture chocolate?
Couverture chocolate is a French term applied to the premium quality chocolate used by the world’s finest chocolatiers. It is made with the very best cocoa beans, and contains a higher percentage of cocoa butter than most standard makes. This makes a real difference to the taste.

Do you have different wedding cake size options?
Yes, we can create a cake to any size you wish. We can help you decide the size of cake, which is usually correlated with your guests numbers but, if you want something outrageously over the top, then we can create that too !

What if I would like fresh flowers on my wedding cake?
We recommend that your florist provide us with the fresh flowers so that colours always match. We will liaise directly with your florist regarding your choices and set-up arrangements.

What are the delivery arrangements?
We will deliver all cakes unless other arrangements are requested. The first 30 miles of travel is free of charge but beyond that there will be an additional mileage charge of 75p per mile (outward journeys only). If we deliver to your venue then we will also set up the cake for you.

Can we collect our cake from you?
Yes, that can be arranged. Your wedding cake will be boxed and ready for collection a few days before your wedding. However, once you have collected your cake, it is your responsibility. Refrigeration of your cake is not necessary but it should be kept in a cool dry place until it is required.

Can I still have a really impressive cake if I am not having many guests to the wedding ?
Certainly. If you are having a small wedding but would like an impressive 3 tier cake, then we can provide a dummy tier or two. These look like the real thing and are decorated in exactly the same way as the genuine cake. Nobody will know - the cake is usually portioned behind the scenes. The overall price for the cake is correspondingly less.

Are your cakes bought in?
No, all of our cakes are individually made by us. We never buy cakes from suppliers and just 'finish them off'. We see the whole process through from beginning to end so that we know you have the very best cake possible.

Can you liaise with my wedding planner?
Absolutely, we can work directly with your wedding planner.
